The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Woe to the stinters who, 1 those who demand a full measure from others 2 But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss. 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 for a great Day, 5 The day all mankind will stand before the Lord of all the worlds? 6 Indeed, the record of the disbelievers is in the lowest place, the Sijjeen. 7 and what shall teach thee what is Sijjin? 8 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed. 9 Woe, then, to those that give the lie, 10 Those who deny the Day of Judgment 11 And none will deny it, except every transgressor, rebel. 12 When Our Signs are rehearsed to him, he says, "Tales of the ancients!" 13 By no means! Aye! encrusted upon their hearts is that which they have been earning. 14 No indeed; but upon that day they shall be veiled from their Lord, 15 Further, they will enter the Fire of Hell. 16 They will then be told: "This is what you had denied." 17 However, the records of the deeds of the virtuous ones will certainly be in Illiyin. 18 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Illiyun is? 19 A record [indelibly] inscribed, 20 witnessed by all who have [ever] been drawn close unto God. 21 The virtuous will surely be in bliss, 22 reclining on couches, reviewing (the bounties given to them). 23 On their faces you will see the glow of beatitude. 24 They will be served the choicest wine, sealed 25 which have the fragrance of musk. This is the kind of place for which one should really aspire. 26 With the wine is a drink from Tasnim, 27 a fountain at which the chosen ones shall drink. 28 The wicked used to laugh at the believers -- 29 when they passed by them they winked, 30 and when they returned to their people they returned blithely, 31 And when they saw them, they said: "Verily! These have indeed gone astray!" 32 Whereas they have not at all been sent as guardians over them. 33 So today those who believe shall laugh at the unbelievers; 34 Reclining on couches, looking on. 35 Have those who deny the truth [not] been paid back for their deeds? 36
