The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)

۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
