We have created the human being out of pure mud-moulded clay 26 And created the jinn before him, from smokeless fire. 27 And (remember) when thy Lord said unto the angels: Lo! I am creating a mortal out of potter's clay of black mud altered, 28 And when I have fashioned him and breathed into him of My spirit, bow before him in homage;" 29 then the angels all prostrated themselves together. 30 Except Iblis. He refused to bow with the adorers. 31 God asked Iblis, "What made you not join the others in prostration?" 32 "How could I bow," said he, "before a mortal whom You created from fermented clay dried tingling hard?" 33 Said He: "Go forth, then, from this [angelic state]: for, behold, thou art [henceforth] accursed, 34 And verily on thee shall be the curse till the Day of Requital. 35 He said: My Lord! Reprieve me till the day when they are raised. 36 Said Allah, “You are of those given respite.” 37 Until the Day of the time well-known." 38 (Iblis) said: "O my Lord! because Thou hast put me in the wrong, I will make (wrong) fair-seeming to them on the earth, and I will put them all in the wrong,- 39 Except, among them, Your chosen servants." 40 Allah said: "Here is the path that leads straight to Me. 41 over My servants thou shalt have no authority, except those that follow thee, 42 Surely Hell is the promised place for all of them." 43 with seven gates leading into it, each gate receiving its allotted share of sinners. 44
