Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 Behold, he said to his father and his people: "What worship ye?" 70 They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 or can they benefit or harm you?" 73 They said: "No. But we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said: have ye observed that which ye worship 75 you, and your elderly fathers? 76 "For they are enemies to me; not so the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds; 77 Who created me and showed me the way, 78 "And it is He Who feeds me and gives me to drink. 79 and when I fall ill, is the One who restores me to health, 80 Who will make me die, then give me life again, 81 And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense." 82 Lord, grant me authority. Join me to the righteous ones. 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 and place me among those who shall inherit the garden of bliss! 85 “And forgive my father* – he is indeed astray.” (His paternal uncle) 86 Degrade me not upon the day when they are raised up, 87 "The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 except for him who comes to God with a pure heart. 89 And Paradise will be brought near to the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2). 90 And hell will appear plainly to the erring. 91 And it will be said unto them: Where is (all) that ye used to worship 92 "'Besides Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?' 93 So they shall be thrown down into it, they and the erring ones, 94 And the soldiers of Iblees, all together. 95 They will say while contending therein, 96 By Allah, we have indeed been in an error manifest. 97 When we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 And none but the guilty led us astray; 99 so now we have no intercessors, 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 Verily herein is a sign, but most of them are not believers. 103 surely, your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 104
