The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains are removed 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 And the little girl buried alive is asked 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 And when the Records of Account are laid bare. 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 And the night when it departs, 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 that the Quran is the word of the honorable angelic, mighty Messenger 19 Owner of strength, of established dignity with the Lord of the Throne. 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 And your companion is not [at all] mad. 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: 28 And ye shall not will unless it be that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, willeth. 29
