Al-Shams
The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
And by the sun and its brightness; 1 by the moon when it follows the sun, 2 and by the day when it displays him 3 and the night as it veils it darkly! 4 By the Firmament and its (wonderful) structure; 5 and by the earth and how He spread it, 6 By the soul, and That which shaped it 7 Then He showed him what is wrong for him and what is right for him; 8 Truly he succeeds that purifies it, 9 and truly lost is he who buries it [in darkness]. 10 (The tribe of) Thamud denied (the truth) in their rebellious pride, 11 Behold, the most wicked man among them was deputed (for impiety). 12 But the Messenger of Allah said to them: "It is a She-camel of Allah! And (bar her not from) having her drink!" 13 In response they belied him, and hamstrung the she camel – so Allah put ruin over them because of their sins and flattened their dwellings. 14 And He (Allah) feared not the consequences thereof. 15
