The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Ruin is for the defrauders. (Those who measure less.) 1 Who, when they take the measure (of their dues) from men take it fully, 2 But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss. 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 on a fateful Day. 5 A Day whereon mankind shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Indeed the ledger of the wicked will be in (the lowest depths) Sijjin. 7 and what shall teach thee what is Sijjin? 8 (It is) a marked Book. 9 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 10 those who give the lie to the [coming of] Judgment Day: 11 Yet none gives the lie to it except the transgressor immersed in sin; 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says: 'Fictitious tales of the ancients' 13 Nay! But on their hearts is the Ran (covering of sins and evil deeds) which they used to earn. 14 Indeed! On that Day a barrier will be set between them and their Lord, 15 Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire. 16 whereafter they will be told: “This is what you used to give the lie to.” 17 Nay, but the record of the righteous is in 'Illiyin - 18 and what shall teach thee what is Illiyun? 19 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record 20 which the angels placed near Allah to safeguard. 21 The virtuous will surely be in bliss, 22 On adorned couches, observing. 23 On their faces you will see the glow of beatitude. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine, sealed, 25 The last thereof (that wine) will be the smell of musk, and for this let (all) those strive who want to strive (i.e. hasten earnestly to the obedience of Allah). 26 a wine tempered with the waters of Tasnim, 27 a fountain at which do drink those brought nigh. 28 Behold, the sinners were laughing at the believers, 29 and whenever they pass by them, they wink at one another [derisively]; 30 And when they returned to their own folk, they returned jesting; 31 and when they saw the believers, they said: “Lo! These are the erring ones”; 32 though they were not sent to be their keepers -- 33 So, the believers will laugh at the infidels on that day, 34 Regarding them from their cushioned seats. 35 Have the unbelievers been duly rewarded for their deeds? 36
