The Romans (Al-Room)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Alif Lam Mim. 1 The Romans have been defeated 2 In the nearer land (Syria, Iraq, Jordan, and Palestine), and they, after their defeat, will be victorious. 3 in a few years. All power belongs to Allah both before and after. On that day will the believers rejoice 4 in God's help; God helps whomsoever He will; and He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 5 The promise of God! God fails not His promise, but most men do not know it. 6 They know but the outer (things) in the life of this world: but of the End of things they are heedless. 7 Do they not ponder about their own selves? God has created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them for a purpose and for an appointed time? Yet many deny they will ever meet with their Lord. 8 Have they not travelled through the land to see how terrible was the end of the people who lived before them. The people who lived before them were stronger than them in might, in tilling, and in developing the earth. Our Messengers came to them with clear miracles. God did not do an injustice to them but they wronged themselves. 9 Then the end of those that did evil was evil, for that they cried lies to the signs of God and mocked at them. 10
