The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ The Compassionate. 1 Taught the Qur'an, 2 He created the human being 3 Taught him the mode of expression. 4 The sun and the moon to a reckoning, 5 [before Him] prostrate themselves the stars and the trees. 6 and He has raised up the heaven and has set a balance 7 that you may not transgress in the balance, 8 weigh, therefore, [your deeds] with equity, and cut not the measure short! 9 And earth -- He set it down for all beings, 10 On it are fruits and palm-trees with sheathed clusters [of dates], 11 grain with its husk and aromatic herbs. 12 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 13 He created man from dry clay like earthen vessels, 14 and jinn from the many colored flames of fire. 15 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie 16 (He is) Lord of the two Easts and Lord of the two Wests: 17 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 18 He has set two seas in motion that flow side by side together, 19 Between them is a barrier [so] neither of them transgresses. 20 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 21 From both of them emerge pearl and coral. 22 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 23 Also, His are the ships that run, raised up like mountains upon the sea. 24 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 25
