In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By (the wind) those sent (as horses') mane (in succession), 1 and then storming on with a tempest's force! 2 And by the winds that scatter clouds and rain; 3 and the severally severing 4 And those that bring down the Reminder 5 To excuse or to warn, 6 What is promised will surely come to pass. 7 So when the stars are extinguished, 8 And when the heaven is cloven asunder. 9 when the mountains shall be scattered 10 And when the time comes for raising the little girls (buried alive) -- 11 For what Day are these (portents) deferred? 12 one will be told, "To the Day of Distinction". 13 Would that you knew about the Day of Judgment! 14 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 15 Did We not destroy [so many of] those [sinners] of olden days? 16 So shall We make later generations to follow them. 17 Thus do We deal with the sinful ones. 18 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 19 Have We not created you from a fluid (held) despicable?- 20 And We placed it in a firm lodging 21 for an appointed time? 22 Thus We have determined the stages of development and Our power to determine is excellent indeed. 23 On that day, woe would be upon those who have rejected the revelations of God! 24 Have We not made the earth a container 25 the living and the dead? 26 and have We not set on it proud, firm mountains, and given you sweet water to drink? 27 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 28 Proceed to that which you denied. 29 Depart to a triple-massing shadow 30 Neither having the coolness of the shade nor availing against the flame. 31 "Indeed it throws about sparks (huge) as Forts, 32 like giant fiery ropes! 33 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 34 This is a Day they will not speak, 35 Nor will they be given permission to present excuses. 36 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 37 Such is the Day of Decision. We will gather you with the ancients. 38 So if you have any ploy, try it against Me! 39 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 40
