The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the heaven and the Morning Star 1 And what can make you know what is the night comer? 2 (It is) the star of piercing brightness; 3 For every soul there is a watcher. 4 So let man consider from what he is created. 5 Created from a gushing fluid. 6 Coming from between the back and the ribs. 7 Surely He (the Creator) has the power to bring him back (to life). 8 The day all secrets are examined 9 he will have no power, nor anyone to help him. 10 By the heaven which returneth, 11 And the earth which opens up (with verdure), 12 surely it is a decisive word; 13 It is no pleasantry. 14 Surely they will make a scheme, 15 And I plot a plot (against them). 16 Therefore respite the unbelievers, and delay them for a while. 17
