Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 And goblets set at hand 14 Cushions arranged, 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
