Do not kill your children because you fear poverty. We will provide for you and them. Killing them is a great sin. 31 Do not draw near to fornication, for it is an indecency, and its way is evil. 32 Do not take life which God has made inviolate -- except by right. If anyone is killed wrongfully, We have given authority to his heirs to demand retribution, but let them not transgress the prescribed limits in exacting retribution; for then he will be assisted [by the law]. 33 And draw not near to the property of the orphan except in a goodly way till he attains his maturity and fulfill the promise; surely (every) promise shall be questioned about. 34 And give full measure when you measure, and weigh with a balance that is straight. That is good (advantageous) and better in the end. 35 Do not follow that of which you have no knowledge. Verily the ear, the eye, the heart, each will be questioned. 36 And walk not on the earth with conceit and arrogance. Verily, you can neither rend nor penetrate the earth, nor can you attain a stature like the mountains in height. 37 The evil of all this is odious in thy Sustainer's sight: 38 (Muhammad), these are words of wisdom which your Lord has revealed to you. Do not consider anything equal to God lest you be thrown into hell, despised, and driven away from God's mercy. 39 Has then your Lord (O pagans of Makkah) preferred for you sons, and taken for Himself from among the angels daughters. Verily! You utter an awful saying, indeed. 40
