And convey unto them the story of Abraham 69 When he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 He said: "Do they hear you, when you call (on them)? 72 or can they benefit or harm you?" 73 They said, “In fact we found our forefathers doing likewise.” 74 He said: "Do you observe that which you have been worshipping, 75 You and your ancient sires. 76 Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds, 77 Who created me, and He doth guide me, 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 And when I am sick, then He restores me to health 80 Who will cause me to die and then will again restore me to life; 81 It is He whom I expect to forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment. 82 My Lord! Vouchsafe me wisdom and unite me to the righteous. 83 And ordain for me a goodly mention among posterity 84 and make me of those who will inherit the Garden of Bliss, 85 Forgive my father. He has gone astray. 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 the day when neither wealth nor sons shall profit 88 But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart." 89 And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous. 90 whereas the blazing fire will be laid open before those who had been lost in grievous error; 91 "And it shall be said to them: 'Where are the (gods) ye worshipped- 92 "Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?" 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 And they, while contending therein, shall say: 96 'By God, we were certainly in manifest error 97 When we made you equal to the Lord of the worlds; 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 And now we have none to intercede for us, 100 "'Nor a single friend to feel (for us). 101 If only we could return and be among the believers!" 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 104
