Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 labouring, weary, 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 raised couches, 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
Almighty God's Truth.
