AND THEY will ask thee about [the nature of] divine inspiration. Say: "This inspiration [comes] at my Sustainer's behest; and [you cannot understand its nature, O men, since] you have been granted very little of [real] knowledge." 85 And if We so willed, We could indeed take away whatever We have revealed unto thee, and in that [state of need] thou wouldst find none to plead in thy behalf before Us. 86 (Whatever you have received) is nothing but grace from your Lord. Indeed His favour to you is great. 87 Say: "If the mankind and the jinns were together to produce the like of this Quran, they could not produce the like thereof, even if they helped one another." 88 And verily We have displayed for mankind in this Qur'an all kind of similitudes, but most of mankind refuse aught save disbelief. 89 They declare, "We will never believe in you until you cause a spring to flow for us from the earth; 90 or that there be a garden of palms and vines for you and then you cause rivers to abundantly flow forth through them; 91 or cause the sky to fall into pieces on us - as you believe you can - or bring God and the angels face to face with us, 92 or till thou possessest a house of gold ornament, or till thou goest up into heaven; and we will not believe thy going up till thou bringest down on us a book that we may read. Say: 'Glory be to my Lord. Am I aught but a mortal, a Messenger?' 93
