And the chiefs of his people, who disbelieved and denied the Meeting in the Hereafter, and on whom We had bestowed the good things of this life, said: "He is no more than a man like yourselves: he eats of that of which ye eat, and drinks of what ye drink. 33 And were ye to obey a human being like you, ye are forthwith to be losers. 34 Does he promise you that when you are dead and are reduced to dust and bones, you will be brought forth to life? 35 ۞ What you are promised is indeed far-fetched. 36 Life is not but our worldly life - we die and live, but we will not be resurrected. 37 He is just a man who invents a lie about God; we cannot believe in him." 38 The messenger said, "My Lord, help me, for they have rejected me." 39 (Allah) said: "In but a little while, they are sure to be sorry!" 40 The blast justly struck them and We reduced them to rubble. Away with such wicked people! 41 Then We raised up other generations after them, 42 no nation outstrips its term, nor do they put it back. 43 Then We sent Our Messengers in succession. Whenever a Messenger came to his people they rejected him, calling him a liar. Thereupon, We made each people to follow the other (to its doom), reducing them to mere tales (of the past). Scourged be the people who do not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our Signs and a clear authority 45 To Pharaoh and his nobles who behaved with arrogance, for they were a conceited lot, 46 and they said, 'What, shall we believe two mortals like ourselves, whose people are our servants?' 47 They called them liars and consequently were destroyed. 48 And indeed We gave Moosa the Book, that they may attain guidance. 49 And We made the son of Mary and his mother as a Sign: We gave them both shelter on high ground, affording rest and security and furnished with springs. 50
