When the Messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 He said, “You are an unfamiliar people.” 62 'No' they replied: 'We bring you (news) of that concerning which they were doubting. 63 "Yet we bring to you the truth, and we are truthful. 64 So travel with thy household in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs. Let none of you turn round, but go whither ye are commanded. 65 And We conveyed to him [the decree] of that matter: that those [sinners] would be eliminated by early morning. 66 In the meantime the people of the city came to Lot rejoicing. 67 [Lout (Lot)] said: "Verily! these are my guests, so shame me not. 68 And fear Allah, and humiliate me not. 69 They replied, "Did we not forbid you to bring anyone to your house?" 70 He said: these are my daughters, if act ye must. 71 By your life! In their drunkenness they were truly blind. 72 and the Cry seized them at the sunrise, 73 and We turned those [sinful towns] upside down, and rained down upon them stone-hard blows of chastisement pre-ordained. 74 There are great Signs in this for those endowed with intelligence. 75 And indeed, those cities are [situated] on an established road. 76 Verily in that is a sign for the believers. 77 And the dwellers in the wood indeed were evil-doers. 78 So We punished them too. They are both situated by the highway, clearly visible. 79
