۞ And those who expect not for a Meeting with Us (i.e. those who deny the Day of Resurrection and the life of the Hereafter), say: "Why are not the angels sent down to us, or why do we not see our Lord?" Indeed they think too highly of themselves, and are scornful with great pride. 21 The Day, when they will see the angels, will not be a day of rejoicing for the criminals; they will cry out, "May Allah save us!" 22 Then We shall turn to what they had done and render it vain like scattered dust. 23 The Companions of the Garden will be well, that Day, in their abode, and have the fairest of places for repose. 24 And on the day when the heaven shall burst asunder with the clouds, and the angels shall be sent down descending (in ranks). 25 The sovereignty on that Day will be the true (sovereignty), belonging to the Most Beneficent (Allah), and it will be a hard Day for the disbelievers (those who disbelieve in the Oneness of Allah Islamic Monotheism). 26 It will be a hard day for the unbelievers. It will be a day when the unjust will bite their fingers, (regretfully) saying, "Would that we had followed the path of the Messengers. 27 Oh, woe is me! Would that I had not taken so-and-so for a friend! 28 He led me astray from the Remembrance after it had reached me, satan is ever the foresaker of humans' 29 And the Messenger will say, "O my Lord, my people had made this Qur'an the object of their ridicule." 30 And thus have We made for every prophet an enemy from among the sinners and sufficient is your Lord as a Guide and a Helper. 31 And those who disbelieve say: Why has not the Quran been revealed to him all at once? Thus, that We may strengthen your heart by it and We have arranged it well in arranging. 32 And they do not come to you with an argument except that We bring you the truth and the best explanation. 33 Those who will be gathered into Gehenna (Hell) upon their faces shall be in the worst in place, and have gone further astray from the Path. 34
