We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, all for nothing. Only those who deny imagine so. So for the unbelievers there is woe from the fire. 27 shall We treat those who believe and do good works the same as those who spread corruption in the land; shall We treat the pious the same as the wicked? 28 It is a blessed Book which We have revealed for you so that you will reflect upon its verses and so the people of understanding will take heed. 29 We bestowed upon David (an illustrious son), Solomon. How excellent a servant (of Ours he was)! Indeed he constantly turned to Us in devotion. 30 And when one evening well-trained and running horses of noble breed were brought to him 31 And he said, "Indeed, I gave preference to the love of good [things] over the remembrance of my Lord until the sun disappeared into the curtain [of darkness]." 32 (he ordered): “Bring these horses back to me,” and then he began to gently stroke their shanks and necks. 33 And We certainly tried Solomon and placed on his throne a body; then he returned. 34 he prayed: "O my Sustainer! Forgive me my sins, and bestow upon me the gift of a kingdom which may not suit anyone after me: verily, Thou alone art a giver of gifts!" 35 And so We made subservient to him the wind, so that it gently sped at his behest whithersoever he willed, 36 And [also] the devils [of jinn] - every builder and diver 37 And others bound in fetters. 38 "This is Our gift," (We said to him), "so bestow freely or withhold without reckoning." 39 And he had a near place in Our presence and a fair resort. 40
