The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The hour drew nigh and the moon was rent in twain. 1 And if they see a miracle they turn aside and say: Transient magic. 2 They have belied, and follow their own fancies. But, every issue will be settled! 3 And withal, there has come unto them many a tiding that should have restrained [their arrogance]: 4 Perfect wisdom (this Quran), but (the preaching of) warners benefit them not, 5 So turn thou away from them. Upon the day when the Caller shall call unto a horrible thing, 6 abasing their eyes, they shall come forth from the tombs as if they were scattered grasshoppers, 7 Racing ahead toward the Caller. The disbelievers will say, "This is a difficult Day." 8 ۞ The people of Noah, who lived before them, had also rejected (Our guidance). They rejected Our servant and said, "He is an insane person so let us drive him away". 9 Then he supplicated to his Lord, (saying): 'I am overcome, help me' 10 Then opened We the gates of heaven with pouring water 11 And We made the earth break forth with springs; so that the water met for an affair already decreed. 12 And We carried him upon a thing of planks and nails, 13 Sailing, before Our eyes, a reward for him who was denied. 14 We have left this as a sign: but will anyone take heed? 15 Then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 16 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 17 'Ad (people) belied (their Prophet, Hud), then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 18 Indeed, We sent upon them a screaming wind on a day of continuous misfortune, 19 Tearing men away as if they were the trunks of palm-trees torn up. 20 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 21 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 22
