The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 Arise, and warn. 2 Thy Lord magnify, 3 purify your garments; 4 And uncleanliness avoid 5 Do not bestow favours in expectation of return, 6 And be patient for the sake of your Lord (i.e. perform your duty to Allah)! 7 When the Trumpet shall be sounded, 8 That shall be - that Day - a day hard. 9 Dolorous for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me with him whom I alone have created, 11 and designated for him ample wealth, 12 and sons standing before him, 13 And for whom I smoothed everything. 14 yet he is eager that I increase him. 15 Never will he receive more. He has been hostile to Our revelations. 16 and I shall constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 Surely he reflected and guessed, 18 death seized him, how was his determining! 19 Again, ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 20 Then he considered [again]; 21 and then he frowns and glares, 22 Then turned his back and waxed proud, 23 and said, "This is nothing but sorcery from the ancients. 24 Naught is this but the word of Man. 25 Him shall I fling unto the burning. 26 And what can make you know what is Saqar? 27 It leaves nothing, nor does it spare; 28 scorching the flesh; 29 Over it are nineteen (guards). 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
