Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 hearing there no babble; 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 and goblets set forth 14 Cushions arranged, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 And so, [O Prophet,] exhort them; thy task is only to exhort: 21 you are not their keeper. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
