Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection 1 And I swear by the reproaching soul [to the certainty of resurrection]. 2 Does man think that We shall not gather his bones? 3 Yea indeed, We are able to make whole his very finger-tips! 4 Nay! (Man denies Resurrection and Reckoning. So) he desires to continue committing sins. 5 He asks: When is the day of resurrection? 6 At length, when the sight is dazed, 7 and the moon eclipsed, 8 And the sun and moon will be joined together (by going one into the other or folded up or deprived of their light, etc.) 9 On that day man will cry: Whither to flee! 10 By no means! No place of safety! 11 unto thy Lord that Day is the recourse. 12 On that Day, man will be told of all that he has sent before and what he has left behind. 13 Nay! Man will be a witness against himself [as his body parts (skin, hands, legs, etc.) will speak about his deeds]. 14 Though he may put forth his excuses (to cover his evil deeds). 15 Do not move your tongue with it (the Revelation) to hasten it. 16 Surely it is for Us to have you commit it to memory and to recite it. 17 Wherefore when We recite it, follow thou the reciting thereof. 18 Then it is for Us (Allah) to make it clear to you, 19 Yet you love this hasty world 20 And neglect the Hereafter. 21 Some faces that Day shall be Nadirah (shining and radiant). 22 looking up to their Sustainer; 23 and some faces will on that Day be gloomy, 24 dreading some great affliction. 25 Some people, certainly, do not believe in it, but when a person's soul reaches up to his throat 26 And it is said, "Who will cure [him]?" 27 and he thinks that it is the parting 28 And one leg will be joined with another: 29 on that Day he will be driven towards your Lord! 30
