۞ Gather all the wicked together and their comrades, and those they had worshipped 22 apart from God, and guide them unto the path of Hell! 23 "But stop them, verily they are to be questioned. 24 "What is the matter with you? Why do you not help one another (as you used to do in the world)?" 25 Indeed, today they are surrendering themselves completely.” 26 And some of them will confront the others, 27 These say, 'Why, you of old would come to us from the right hand.' 28 They will reply: "Nay, ye yourselves had no Faith! 29 we had no power over you; but you yourselves were a rebellious people. 30 So on us hath been justified the sentence of our Lord: verily we are to taste. 31 "So we led you astray because we were ourselves astray." 32 And verily, on that Day they all will share in their common suffering. 33 Verily, thus shall We deal with all who were lost in sin: 34 They were the ones, who on being told, "God is only One," become puffed-up with pride 35 And (they) said: "Are we going to abandon our aliha (gods) for the sake of a mad poet? 36 Nay, but he [whom you call a mad poet] has brought the truth; and he confirms the truth of [what the earlier of God's] message-bearers [have taught]. 37 “You surely have to taste the painful punishment.” 38 but you shall not be recompensed except for what you were doing. 39 Except the chosen creatures of God, 40 For them is a Sustenance determined, 41 Fruits, and they shall be highly honored, 42 in gardens of bliss, 43 (Sitting) on couches, face to face, 44 a goblet from a spring shall be passed round to them 45 White and delicious to the drinkers; 46 causing no headiness or intoxication. 47 And besides them will be chaste women, restraining their glances, with big eyes (of wonder and beauty). 48 As if they were eggs carefully protected. 49 And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. 50 Said one of the speakers: "I had a friend 51 who would say: "Are you among the believers (of the resurrection)? 52 ‘That when we are dead and have turned into dust and bones, that we will either be rewarded or punished?’ 53 And he will reply: 'Are you looking down (into Hell)' 54 He looked down and saw (his friend) in the midst of Hell. 55 He saith: By Allah, thou verily didst all but cause my ruin, 56 Had it not been for the grace of my Lord I too would have been there (in Hell). 57 Then, are we not to die 58 except for our first death? And shall we suffer no chastisement?'” 59 Lo! this is the supreme triumph. 60 for the like of this let the workers work.' 61 Is Paradise a better accommodation or the tree of zaqqum? 62 which We have made as a torment for the unjust? 63 for, behold, it is a tree that grows in the very heart of the blazing fire [of hell,] 64 Its produce is as it were the heads of the serpents. 65 They will eat from it and fill their bellies with it; 66 And afterward, lo! thereupon they have a drink of boiling water 67 then surely they shall return to Hell. 68 Verily they found their fathers gone astray. 69 and they are running in their footsteps. 70 Thus, indeed, most of the people of old went astray before them, 71 And indeed We sent among them warners (Messengers); 72 Then see what was the end of those who were warned (but heeded not). 73 But not the chosen servants of Allah. 74
