He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 you attended to him, 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 These verses are a reminder 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Let the human reflect on the food he eats, 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 And olives and palms 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 And his mother and his father 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 laughing and joyous 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 and covered by darkness. 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
