S (Saad)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Sad. By the Quran, full of admonition! 1 Those who deny the truth are steeped in arrogance and hostility. 2 Many a generation We did destroy before them – thereupon they cried out whereas it is not the time to escape! 3 It seems strange to the pagans that a man from their own people should come to them as a Prophet. The unbelievers have said, "He is only a lying magician". 4 Does he claim that all the deities are [but] one God? Verily, a most strange thing is this!" 5 And their leaders launch forth [thus]: "Go ahead, and hold steadfastly onto your deities: this, behold, is the only thing to do! 6 We have heard nothing like this in the latest religion. This is only his own false invention. 7 What, has the Remembrance been sent down on him out of us all?' Nay, but they are in doubt of My Remembrance; nay, they have not yet tasted My chastisement. 8 Or have they the treasuries of thy Lord's mercy, the All-mighty, the All-giving? 9 Or is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, theirs? Then let them climb up the ladders (to the heavens). 10 A defeated host are (all) the factions that are there. 11 The people of Noah denied before them, and [the tribe of] 'Aad and Pharaoh, the owner of stakes, 12 So also did the people of Thamud, Lot, and the dwellers of the Forest. 13 Each of them who rejected the Messenger become subject to Our punishment. 14
