The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
