The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Terror descends 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 The Companions of the Right 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 And clustered plantains, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And water everflowing. 31 and abundant fruit, 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 and upraised couches. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
