He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 Yet you pay attention 5 So you are after him! 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 and in awe [of God] 9 From him you are distracted. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Then let man look to his food, 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 And produce therein corn, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 and covered by darkness. 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
