The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 And when the souls are paired 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 when the records of men's deeds are laid open, 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 And when Hellfire is set ablaze 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 The rising dawn, 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 obeyed by (all creatures) and faithful to His trust. 21 And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman; 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 nor does he grudge (conveying this knowledge about) the Unseen; 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 So where are you going? 26 It is not except a reminder to the worlds 27 To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, 28 But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds. 29
