The dwellers in the wood (of Midian) denied the messengers (of Allah), 176 When Shu'eyb said unto them: Will ye not ward off (evil)? 177 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 178 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me: 179 I do not ask any payment for my preaching. I shall receive my reward from the Lord of the Universe. 180 ۞ "[Always] give full measure, and be not among those who [unjustly] cause loss [to others]; 181 Weigh with correct scales: 182 and do not diminish the goods of the people, and do not make mischief in the earth, working corruption. 183 but be conscious of Him who has created you, just as [He created] those countless generations of old!" 184 They said, “You are under a magic spell.” 185 You are but a man like ourselves, and indeed, we think you are among the liars. 186 Then drop down on us lumps from heaven, if thou art one of the truthful.' 187 He said: My Lord is Best Aware of what ye do. 188 They rejected him, and then had to suffer the punishment of a day of overshadowing gloom. That was indeed the punishment of an awful day. 189 In this [story,] behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 190 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 191
