Nay, by the moon, 32 By the receding night 33 And by the dawn when it brightens, 34 it is one of the greatest trials, 35 a warning to humankind, 36 a warning to everyone of you whether he would like to come forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul shall be pledged for what it has earned, 38 Except the Companions of the Right Hand. 39 (They will be) in Gardens (of Delight): they will question each other, 40 and will ask of the criminals, 41 What led you into the Scorching Fire? 42 They will answer: “We were not among those who observed Prayer, 43 we fed not the needy, 44 we indulged in vain arguments along with those who indulged in them; 45 and we gave the lie to the Day of Judgement 46 until the Inevitable End [death] overtook us." 47 So the intercession of intercessors shall not avail them. 48 What is then the matter with them, that they turn away from the admonition 49 As though they were frightened asses 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Nay, every man of them desires to be -- given -- scrolls unrolled. 52 By no means. In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay; this is an Exhortation. 54 So, whoever wills may benefit from it. 55 And they will not mind unless Allah please. He is worthy to be feared and worthy to forgive. 56
