(Pharaoh) said to the Chiefs around him: "This is indeed a sorcerer well-versed: 34 who seeks to expel you from your land by his sorcery. What is your counsel' 35 They said, “Stop him and his brother, and send gatherers to the cities.” 36 and summon every skillful magician from all the cities." 37 So the magicians were gathered together at the appointed time on the fixed day, 38 The people were asked, 'Will you assemble? 39 so that we may follow the magicians, if they be the winners." 40 When the magicians came, they asked Pharaoh, "Shall we have a reward, if we are the winners?" 41 He said: "Yes, you will then become those near-stationed to me." 42 (Moses) asked the magicians, "Cast down what you want to". 43 So they cast their ropes and their staffs, and said, 'By the might of Pharaoh we shall be the victors.' 44 Then Moses threw his rod, when, behold, it straightway swallows up all the falsehoods which they fake! 45 The magicians fell down prostrate, 46 They said, "We have believed in the Lord of the worlds, 47 The Lord of Musa and Harun. 48 Said Firaun, “You accepted faith in him before I permitted you! He is indeed your leader who taught you magic; so now you will come to know; I swear, I will certainly cut off your hands and your feet from alternate sides, and crucify all of you.” 49 They said, "No harm. Indeed, to our Lord we will return. 50 and we surely expect that Our Lord will forgive us our sins for we are the first ones to believe." 51
