The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 About which they have been differing? 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 And made the night a cover. 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
