۞ Alif. Lam. Ra. These are the verses of the Book and the glorious Quran. 1 Again and again will those who disbelieve, wish that they had bowed (to Allah's will) in Islam. 2 Leave them alone; let them eat and enjoy themselves the while the hope [of vain delights] beguiles them: for in time they will come to know [the truth]. 3 And every dwelling that We destroyed, had a known decree for it. 4 No people can outstrip the term for its destruction nor can it delay it. 5 They say: 'You to whom the Remembrance is sent down, you are indeed mad. 6 "Why do you not bring angels to us if you are of the truthful ones?" 7 But We send down the angels only to bring justice and then they will not be reprieved. 8 Surely We have revealed the Reminder and We will most surely be its guardian. 9 We did send messengers before thee amongst the religious sects of old: 10 and not a single Messenger came to them, but they mocked at him; 11 Thus do We let it (polytheism and disbelief) enter into the hearts of the Mujrimun [criminals, polytheists, pagans, etc. (because of their mockery at the Messengers)]. 12 They believe not therein, and already the example of the ancients hath gone forth. 13 If We opened a gate in the heaven and they kept ascending through it, 14 Even then they would say, “Our sights have been hypnotised – in fact, a magic spell has been cast upon us.” 15
