I told them, "Messengers, eat from the pure things and act righteously; I know all that you do. 51 Your religion is one and I am your Lord. Have fear of Me". 52 But the people divided their religion among them into sects - each faction, in what it has, rejoicing. 53 Leave them in their perplexity for a time. 54 Do they think that in giving them wealth and children 55 Are quickly giving them goodness? In fact, they do not know. 56 Indeed those who are overwhelmed due to the fear of their Lord – 57 and who believe in their Sustainer's messages, 58 who associate none with their Lord in His Divinity, 59 who spend their property for the cause of God, and whose hearts are afraid of their return 60 those, hasten in good works, outracing to them. 61 And We task not any soul except according to its capacity, and with Us is a book speaking with truth, and they will not be wronged. 62 In fact, the hearts of the unbelievers are in the dark because of their ignorance of real virtue; they act against it. 63 Until, when We grasp those of them who lead a luxurious life with punishment, behold! They make humble invocation with a loud voice. 64 'Groan not today; surely you shall not be helped from Us. 65 My revelations were recited unto you, but ye used to turn back on your heels, 66 and arrogantly mocked and reviled them. 67 Have they not pondered the Word, or hath that come unto them which came not unto their fathers of old? 68 Or did they not recognise their Messenger and so denied him? 69 Or say they: There is a madness in him? Nay, but he bringeth them the Truth; and most of them are haters of the Truth. 70 And if the Truth had followed their desires, verily the heavens and the earth and whosoever is therein had been corrupted. Nay, We have brought them their Reminder, but from their Reminder they now turn away. 71 Or dost thou ask them for tribute? Yet the tribute of thy Lord is better, and He is the best of providers. 72 But verily thou callest them to the Straight Way; 73 but those who disbelieve the life hereafter deviate from the right path. 74 ۞ And even if We gave them mercy and removed what was upon them of affliction, they would persist in their transgression, wandering blindly. 75 We struck them with torment, but they did not submit themselves to their Lord, nor did they make themselves humble 76 Until, when We open for them the gate of severe punishment, then lo! They will be plunged into destruction with deep regrets, sorrows and in despair. 77
