The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount (Sinai), 1 Consider [God's] revelation, inscribed 2 On a parchment scroll unrolled, 3 The house ever-peopled, 4 and by the lofty vault of the sky, 5 And the sea set aflame. 6 the punishment of your Lord shall certainly come to pass, 7 Of it there is no preventer. 8 [It will come to pass] on the Day when the skies will be convulsed in [a great] convulsion, 9 and the mountains move, moving. 10 Woe will be to those who rejected the Truth 11 Who are in [empty] discourse amusing themselves. 12 On the Day when they shall be thrust into Hell with a violent thrust (and shall be told): 13 This is the fire which you used to deny. 14 Is it magic then or do you not see? 15 [Enter to] burn therein; then be patient or impatient - it is all the same for you. You are only being recompensed [for] what you used to do." 16 The pious will live in bountiful Paradise, 17 rejoicing in all that their Sustainer will have granted them: for their Sustainer will have warded off from them all suffering through the blazing fire. 18 (To them will be said:) "Eat and drink ye, with profit and health, because of your (good) deeds." 19 They will recline on couches arranged in rows and We shall couple them with maidens with large, lovely eyes. 20 Those who believe, and whose descendants follow in belief, We will join their descendants to them. And We will not reduce them of anything of their deeds. Every one is pledged for what he has earned. 21 And We aided them with fruit and meat, whatever they desire. 22 In it, they accept cups from each other, in which is neither any lewdness nor any sin. 23 ۞ And there will go round on them youths appointed to attend them as though they were pearls hidden. 24 And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. 25 Saying, “Indeed before this, we were in our houses, worried.” 26 But Allah has been gracious to us and He has saved us from the punishment of the hot wind: 27 Surely we called upon Him before: Surely He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
