Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 wherein they will not hear any vain talk. 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 and couches raised high, 13 And cups put in place 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 What, do they not consider how the camel was created, 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
