We have created the human being out of pure mud-moulded clay 26 And created the jinn before him, from smokeless fire. 27 And recall what time thy Lord said unto the angels: verily I am about to create a man from ringing clay of loam moulded. 28 When I have shaped him, and breathed My spirit in him, fall you down, bowing before him!' 29 Therefore all the angels, each and every one of them, fell prostrate. 30 Not so Iblis: he refused to be among those who prostrated themselves. 31 He said: O Iblis! What aileth thee that thou art not among the prostrate? 32 He said, "Never would I prostrate to a human whom You created out of clay from an altered black mud." 33 Said He: "Go forth, then, from this [angelic state]: for, behold, thou art [henceforth] accursed, 34 And lo! the curse shall be upon thee till the Day of Judgment. 35 He said: My Lord! then respite me till the time when they are raised. 36 He said, "You are granted respite 37 till that Appointed Day." 38 (satan) said: 'My Lord, for Your perverting me, I shall make (matters) in the earth seem most fair to them and I shall pervert all, 39 excepting those Thy servants among them that are devoted. 40 Said Allah, “This path* leads straight towards Me.” (* The path of the chosen bondmen.) 41 Indeed, My servants - no authority will you have over them, except those who follow you of the deviators. 42 Gehenna (Hell) will be the promise for all of them. 43 Seven gates it has, and unto each gate a set portion of them belongs.' 44
