(The tribe of) A’ad denied the Noble Messengers. 123 When their brother Hud said to them: "Will you not fear Allah and obey Him? 124 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 125 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me: 126 And I ask of you no hire therefor: my hire is but with the Lord of the worlds. 127 What, you build a monument on every hill merely for fun 128 And take ye for yourselves castles that haply ye may abide. 129 When you attack, you attack as tyrants do. 130 “Therefore fear Allah, and obey me.” 131 “Fear Him Who has aided you with the things you know.” 132 Who has provided you with flocks and children 133 And gardens and springs. 134 Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a dreadful Day' 135 They said, “It is the same for us, whether you advise us or not be of the preachers.” 136 This is not but the custom of the former peoples, 137 "And we are not the ones to receive Pains and Penalties!" 138 Eventually they gave the lie to him and We destroyed them. Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 139 Yet surely your Lord is mighty and merciful. 140
