Hast thou received the story of the honoured guests of Abraham? 24 Behold, they entered his presence, and said: "Peace!" He said, "Peace!" (and thought, "These seem) unusual people." 25 So he turned to his household and brought a fattened calf. 26 And he set it before them, and said: wherefore eat ye not? 27 (When they did not eat), He conceived a fear of them. They said, "Fear not," and they gave him glad tidings of a son endowed with knowledge. 28 Thereupon his wife approached [the guests] with a loud cry, and struck her face [in astonishment] and exclaimed: "A barren old woman [like me]!" 29 They said: Thus says your Lord: Surely He is the Wise, the Knowing. 30 ۞ [Abraham] said, "Then what is your business [here], O messengers?" 31 They said: "We have been sent to a people who are Mujrimun (polytheists, sinners, criminals, disbelievers in Allah); 32 To send down upon them stones of baked clay. 33 marked out in thy Sustainer's sight for [the punishment of] such as have wasted their own selves." 34 And in the course of time We brought out [of Lot 's city] such [few] believers as were there: 35 But did not find more than a single family of believers. 36 And We left therein a sign for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 And in Musa: When We sent him to Firon with clear authority. 38 But Pharaoh turned away, showing arrogance on account of his power, and said (about Moses): “He is either a sorcerer or a madman.” 39 So We seized him and his hosts, and We cast them into the sea, and he blameworthy. 40 There is also a Sign for you in (the story of) Ad, when We let loose upon them an ominous wind 41 which turned everything it approached into dust. 42 And in the Thamud (was another Sign): Behold, they were told, "Enjoy (your brief day) for a little while!" 43 But they rebelled against the command of their Lord. So the thunderbolt overtook them while they looked on: 44 They were unable to stand up, nor were they helped. 45 [We destroyed] the people of Noah before them. They were certainly a sinful people. 46
