The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
