The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ [The time of] their account has approached for the people, while they are in heedlessness turning away. 1 Never does a new reminder come to them from their Lord but they listen to it with dalliance. 2 Their hearts toying as with trifles. The wrong-doers conceal their private counsels, (saying), "Is this (one) more than a man like yourselves? Will ye go to witchcraft with your eyes open?" 3 He said: "My Lord knows well all that is spoken in the heavens and the earth. He is All-Hearing, All- Knowing." 4 But they say, "[The revelation is but] a mixture of false dreams; rather, he has invented it; rather, he is a poet. So let him bring us a sign just as the previous [messengers] were sent [with miracles]." 5 Not one of the communities that We destroyed in bygone times would ever believe [their prophets]: will these, then, [be more willing to] believe? 6 Never did We send a message before you but through a man, whom We inspired. If you do not know, then ask the keepers of the oracles of God. 7 Nor did We make them bodies that ate no food, nor were they immortal. 8 In the end, We made good unto them Our promise, and We saved them and all whom We willed [to save,] and We destroyed those who had wasted their own selves. 9 We have revealed for you (O men!) a book in which is a Message for you: will ye not then understand? 10
