'Aad denied the messengers 123 When their brother Hud said unto them: Will ye not ward off (evil)? 124 I am a trustworthy messenger for you: 125 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me: 126 “And I do not ask from you any fee for it; my reward is only upon the Lord Of The Creation.” 127 "Will you, in your wanton folly, build [idolatrous] altars on every height, 128 and erect huge palaces as though you will live for ever, 129 And whenever you apply force become tyrannical. 130 So fear God, and obey me; 131 fear Him who has aided you with all that you know -- 132 Who has provided you with flocks and children 133 And gardens and springs. 134 I fear the punishment of a terrible day for you. 135 They replied: 'It is the same to us whether you admonish or whether you are not one of the admonishers. 136 this is nothing but the habit of the ancients, 137 and we shall never be punished' 138 In response they denied him – We therefore destroyed them; indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 139 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 140
