Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ No! I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 and nay, I swear by the self-reproaching soul! 2 Does man think that We cannot [resurrect him and] bring his bones together again? 3 Yea! WE are Able to put together evenly his finger-tips. 4 In fact, people want to have eternal life in this world. 5 he asks, "When is this Day of Resurrection to be?" 6 But [on that Day,] when the eyesight is by fear confounded, 7 And the moon darkens 8 and the sun and the moon are brought together 9 on that Day will man exclaim "Whither to flee?" 10 Alas! No refuge! 11 The only place of refuge will be with God. 12 To man will be declared on that Day that which he hath sent on and left behind. 13 Nay! Man will be a witness against himself [as his body parts (skin, hands, legs, etc.) will speak about his deeds]. 14 Though he puts forth his excuses. 15 Do not move your tongue with it (the Revelation) to hasten it. 16 Surely on Us (devolves) the collecting of it and the reciting of it. 17 So when We have recited it [through Gabriel], then follow its recitation. 18 and then, behold, it will be for Us to make its meaning clear. 19 Human beings certainly do not want to pay much attention to the Quran. In fact, they love the worldly life 20 and give no thought to the life to come [and to Judgment Day]! 21 Some faces, that Day, will beam (in brightness and beauty);- 22 Looking toward their Lord; 23 Others will be despondent, 24 Knowing that they will be subjected to a torment that breaks the backs. 25 By no means! When it cometh up to the collar-bone. 26 And it is asked: "Is there any reciter of charms and amulets?" 27 and when he thinks it is the time of departure 28 when his legs are brought together [when affliction is combined with affliction]; 29 That Day the Drive will be (all) to thy Lord! 30
