And recount to them the story of Abraham: 69 When he said unto his father and his people: what worship ye? 70 They said: "We worship idols, and we remain constantly in attendance on them." 71 'Do they hear you when you call on them' He asked. 72 "Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)." 74 He said, “Do you see these – (the idols) whom you worship?” 75 you and your fathers, the elders? 76 Lo! they are (all) an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the Worlds, 77 who created me. It is He who guides me; 78 “And the One Who feeds me and gives me to drink.” 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 “And He will give me death, then resurrect me.” 81 And who, I hope, will condone my faults on the Day of Judgement. 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 and make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 And forgive my father, verily he is of the erring; 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 "But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart; 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 And they will be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 "They will say there in their mutual bickerings: 96 "By God, we were plainly in error 97 When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 yet they who have seduced us [into believing in you] are the truly guilty ones! 99 So we have no intercessors, 100 “Nor a caring friend.” 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 103 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 104
