[AND] the people of Lot gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 160 When their brother Lut said to them: Will you not guard (against evil)? 161 Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you, 162 So fear God and listen to me. 163 I ask no recompense of you for this. My reward is due from none but the Lord of all the worlds. 164 What, of all creation will you go to (fornicate with) the males, 165 "And leave those whom Allah has created for you to be your mates? Nay, ye are a people transgressing (all limits)!" 166 They said: "O Lot! If you do not desist, you will be one of those expelled (from our towns)." 167 He said: 'Truly, I am a detester of what you do' 168 (And prayed:) "O Lord, save me and my family from what they do." 169 So We delivered him and his followers all, 170 Except an old woman (his wife) among those who remained behind. 171 We then destroyed the others. 172 And We showered a rain upon them; so what a wretched rain for those who were warned! 173 Verily in this was a sign, but most of them do not believe. 174 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate. 175
