Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 In a lofty garden, 10 hearing there no babble; 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 Goblets set, 14 cushions ranged, 15 And carpets spread out. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
