The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
I CALL THE night to witness when it covers over, 1 And the day resplendent 2 And by Who created the male and female, 3 That your endeavour is for different ends. 4 We shall facilitate the path to bliss 5 And believed the best matter to be true 6 So We will very soon provide him ease. 7 And as for him who stinteth and is heedless, 8 and denied the Truth of goodness: 9 We shall pave his way to hardship, 10 nor will his wealth profit him when he falls [into the pit]. 11 Surely it is for Us to show the Right Way, 12 And verify Ours is both the Hereafter and the life present. 13 Now I have warned you of a Fire that flames, 14 None shall enter it save the most wretched, 15 who denied [the truth], and turned away. 16 And Al-Muttaqun (the pious and righteous - see V. 2:2) will be far removed from it (Hell). 17 Who giveth his wealth that he may grow (in goodness). 18 They do not expect any reward 19 Except as seeking (to fulfil) the purpose of his Lord Most High. 20 And soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction. 21
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
